Ivan Rothman on the Olympus OM-D E5

Joe,

I love my olympus OM-D.  The new upgraded and slightly more expensive version has a different layout and I'm not sure which of the two I would get if buying it now.  I'd have to put my hands on the new camera.
But I love the older version.
Great image stabilization.  I was using it handheld in dark churches in Eastern Europe and got great shots.
At high ISO it is somewhat noisy and nowhere near as good as my D4, but it is still quite usable at ISO 20000
At ISO 1600 or below it is very good.
I've used it with the new 75-300 mm lens which gives an effective focal length of 600mm and I have photos with great detail.
Of course I shoot only RAW

Ivan

Here are some examples:

BIG HORN SHEEP - GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
HAND HELD FOCAL LENGTH 600MM    F6.7    1/500     ISO 1250

PRAGUE
ON TRIPOD FOCAL LENGTH 56MM    F16    13 SECONDS     ISO 250

KRAKOW
HAND HELD FOCAL LENGTH 96MM    F11    1/40     ISO 640

SALT MINES, POLAND
HAND HELD FOCAL LENGTH 60MM    F8    1/30     ISO 20000

IPG Competiton Night for Oct & Nov and other calendar events

October's Competition Night is scheduled for Oct 7, at Allen Park, because the park is closed for Columbus Day, 10/14, the following week.
In November, we will go back to having Competition Night on the second Monday of the month, 11/11.  Allen Park is open on Veterans Day.
Oct 21st, at the Rink, we will have a representative from B&H, give a lecture about night photography and weather permitting, we will go outside to do some shooting.  So bring your cameras and tripods.
Nov 4, at Allen Park, we will have Roni Chastain, show us her pictures of Tanzania.
On Nov 18th, at the Rink, we are setting up a holiday mini shoot.  Bring in your camera, flash and families, kids, grandkids, etc.  It will be a great way to make up those Holiday Cards and get some portrait experience.  Erika is going to get holiday back drops and flash set ups.  She will send out an email, with the specifics.
Our club is nothing without you.
